North Shore Market Office Square Footage 5,000 Location Wayzata, MN Product Solutions Acoustic Solutions, Furniture Services Installation + Labor, Interior Design, Procurement, Product Specification, Project Management North Shore Development and North Shore Construction were working out of different locations and wanted to consolidate into one space to represent their respective capabilities and vision. They wanted the new environment to be warm and inviting to clients while still meeting the functional needs of field employees using the office in work boots and hard hats. “We needed a space that looked nice, felt comfortable, was not too fancy but also presentable for when clients were visiting,” said Katherine Urness, Senior Designer, North Shore Development Partners. In addition to work and meeting spaces, the team wanted an area to socialize and entertain clients. The challenge became fitting all their wants and needs into their new 3rd-floor space in Wayzata, overlooking Lake Minnetonka. The vision for the space began with a blue color, evoking the lake and the outdoors, taken from their literature. From there, they brought in other branding elements, such as the lake’s topography, which they had etched on the glass dividing the lobby from the office area. “We didn’t know who we would work with for furniture on the project,” said Urness, “But right away, we hit it off with Cori from Henricksen, and when we met with the team in January, they knew what we were looking for.” They selected Gunlocke with sit-to-stand options for the executive offices. The workstations were Allsteel with gallery panels on the outside and acoustical panels to divide the space. “We needed some growth in our cube area for people out in the field, so they could come in and use an office or computer,” said Matt Alexander, Principal, North Shore Development Partners. “Henricksen was challenged to create assigned and open seating spaces.” The breakroom features a beautiful built-in booth made by West Coast Industries and barstools from Source International. Functional call rooms were also created along the interior, along with some smaller touchdown spaces. After moving in, they realized they needed some help with noise management. Zilenzio Timber and Dezibel acoustical panels were installed in the open area and conference rooms to help mitigate noise pollution throughout the office. “You never know until you get in,” said Urness. “We adjusted things, like adding the ceiling panels for noise and echoing.” Due to the project’s success, they continue to partner with Henricksen on future endeavors. “Overall, we had a great experience with Henricksen,” said Urness, “And it has continued as they help with some of our development projects.” “Henricksen’s reputation preceded them,” said Alexander, “They met and beat expectations, and we are delighted and pleased with the end project.”
