Meet the Account Executive Behind the Bad Idea Project

Henricksen’s Kayla Kercher, IIDA, leverages her hybrid sales and design expertise to deliver standout projects, including the celebrated Bad Idea restaurant in East Nashville.

What happens when design expertise meets a passion for transforming spaces? Henricksen's Kayla Kercher, IIDA, brings this harmony to life as a Workplace Consultant, crafting dynamic and inspiring environments across Nashville and Tennessee.

Over the past four years at Henricksen, she has embraced a distinctive hybrid role that bridges sales and design. This hybrid role has honed her technical and creative skills and allowed her to take on diverse projects that showcase her adaptability and vision.

While Kayla started her career focusing on corporate projects, her portfolio has evolved to include wide-ranging hospitality spaces and large-scale corporate accounts.

One of Kayla's most notable projects was her work on Bad Idea, a restaurant and bar in East Nashville. Housed in a historic landmark building that formerly served as a sanctuary, this innovative project aimed to revitalize and modernize the space while preserving its architectural heritage. The project's scope included sourcing and installing high-quality ancillary furniture, sophisticated lighting fixtures, and modern seating options. Each piece was meticulously curated to complement the historic character of the building while introducing a contemporary design aesthetic. The result was a space that honored the building's storied past and set a new standard for modern hospitality design in East Nashville. Working hand-in-hand with the client and the design team, Design Object, Kayla ensured that every element—from functional furniture to striking design accents—reflected a shared vision of innovation and heritage.

Kayla's active involvement with NEWH and a keen eye on emerging trends allows her to bring cutting-edge ideas and solutions to every project, ensuring her clients stay ahead in the ever-evolving design world.

With her expertise, creativity, and dedication to collaboration, Kayla continues redefining what's possible in workplace and hospitality design. Whether transforming a historic landmark or crafting a modern office, she is the partner clients trust to bring their visions to life.
