Value engineering and aesthetic appeal need not be mutually exclusive. In fact, these ideals have merged beautifully for the Edina City Hall, resulting in a space that appeals to the municipal government’s budget and the city taxpayers’ desires for suburban integration. Edina city officials sought the uncompromising expertise of Henricksen PSG to meet the unique demands of versatility and affordability and ensure the Edina City Hall interior reflected BKV Group’s architectural vision for a building conspicuously set in a residential community.
BKV Group succeeded with the task of replacing an outdated, 1970s building with a new, versatile, two-story building that houses city officials, law enforcement and jail facilities. They collaborated with Henricksen PSG to create a complementary interior plan, for which Henricksen PSG oversaw the project management and installation of furniture that proved remarkably affordable for a building of its size and stature. Through an efficient specification and selection process, city officials chose an array of products that provide a refined office setting. The result showcases a distinctive style consistent with the local government’s resources and its constituency’s aesthetic demands.
