Be The Match, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), is a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to helping every patient get the life-saving transplant they need. As trusted leaders in advancing treatments for those facing life-threatening blood cancers, Be The Match provides the ground-breaking research, innovative technologies, patient support, and education.
In December 2015, Be The Match moved its 955 employees into its newly constructed headquarters building across from Target Field in downtown Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood. The space is planned to support Be The Match growth up to 1,200 employees with minimal disruption to the daily operations.
Given the organization’s mission, Be The Match saw an opportunity to building as an opportunity connect with its surrounding community. The design includes an 11,000-square-foot entry plaza for outdoor public events and additional event space in the main floor lobby. The rooftop has views of the ballpark and downtown and include a fitness center, event space, and an outdoor terrace. A welcome street level presence includes a coffee bar and cafe which are located at street level and can be accessed by the general public. “Building awareness about the need for volunteer donors is also critical to our mission. This location will allow us to be more visible within the Twin Cities community, and increase our opportunities to connect with the public, corporations and supporting organizations.” said Dr.Jeffrey Chell, Be the Match CEO.
The work spaces includes various open office workstation configurations with integrated teaming and touch-down spaces. Invigorating, comfortable lounge spaces encourages socialization among the employees.
