Meet the Team

Michael D. Assell
President / Principal
Mike has over 33 years of contract office furniture industry experience. He started his career at Allsteel Inc. upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. While at Allsteel, Mike received his MBA from Benedictine University and developed expertise in Accounting, Finance, Contract Sales, Pricing, Customer Support and Corporate Account Sales, and was appointed President of Allsteel Inc. in 1995. After the sale of Allsteel to the Hon Company in 1998, Mike joined Henricksen as Vice president of Operations and has focused on increasing operational effectiveness in an effort to best support our clients and Henricksen’s long term profitable growth. In June 2011, Mike was appointed President of Henricksen.

Tim Osborn
CFO / Treasurer / Principal
Tim is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has been with Henricksen since 1987. Within the company, he has held positions as Comptroller and Vice President of Finance/MIS. Tim is responsible for the accounting and computer operations of Henricksen. He has overseen the growth of the company from a manual operation to a highly integrated order entry and accounting process customized for a contract office furniture dealership. Tim was named CFO in June, 2011.

Richard D. Failla
Executive Vice President / Secretary / Principal
Rick joined Henricksen in 1980, shortly after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh. He has held positions as a Sales Representative, General Manager, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Rick is responsible for overseeing a 60 member sales team while also directing the marketing department and providing support for project management and Design. His 31 years of experience, along with his extensive product knowledge continues to benefit Henricksen and our customers. Rick was named Executive Vice President in June, 2011.

Russell Frees
Executive Vice President / Principal
Russell has been in the contract furniture industry for 22 years and been an asset to Henricksen for 11 years. After graduating from Miami University, Russell joined Knoll in their executive management program. He has extensive experience working with both Henricksen and directly for manufacturers such as Knoll, Bernhardt, and Bentley. He has been involved with projects ranging in scope from national standards of products and services to evaluation of existing furniture and single project opportunities. Russell was appointed Executive Vice President in June, 2011.

Dick Nash
Vice President / General Manager – Minnesota / Principal
Dick has been in the contract industry for over 20 years, equipped with a degree in Communications from the University of Kansas, and is responsible for management oversight in the Minnesota marketplace. He worked for Allsteel for 12 years as Regional Vice President. Since leaving Allsteel, Dick has held positions with Dayton's Commercial Interiors where he was Vice President of Client Services and most recently General Manager/Vice President of Resource Minnesota, owned by Interface. Dick is a strong advocate of the architectural and design community and encourages the use of sustainable products and processes. His strengths include his ability to provide business solutions for the various workplace environments, mentor employees through the sales process, and his enthusiastic connection to market resources.

Mark Eslinger
Director of Business Development and Sales / Principal
Mark has been working within the architecture, engineering, design and commercial real estate industries for 25 years and is well connected in the marketplace. His background includes business administration, executive management, sales, marketing and operations. Mr. Eslinger has experience working with both the manufacturing and dealer side of the furniture business. He is responsible for building and developing client relationships and directing our sales force to deliver appropriate products and services for their projects. Mark oversees the client relationship and specific project service processes.

Mark Dalton
Director of Business Development / Principal
Mark has been in the industry for 27 years and has experience in most areas of the industry. He has worked with manufacturers, as a manufacturer’s representative and senior level management with industry dealers. Mark’s design of the Clybourn collection for OSI won a Chicago Athenaeum Juror’s Choice Award. He has a complete understanding of the procurement process, providing oversight throughout the project’s entire process. Mark has worked with clients such as: University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, Goss International, Baxter, Abbott, Harold Washington College and many law firms.

Chris Knoeppel
Vice President/General Manager-Wisconsin/Principal
Chris Joined our Henricksen team in 2011, bringing over 14 years of contract furniture industry experience to our organization. He is a graduate from Iowa State University with a degree in Marketing and Economics. His industry experience includes over eight years with Steelcase as both a Learning & Development Consultant and a Market Manager, and he spent another five years at Forrer Business Interiors, a competing dealership, as Director of Business Development. Mr. Knoeppel is responsible for all Henricksen operations in the Wisconsin marketplace and is focused on providing an exceptional experience to our clients. Chris is a strong advocate for helping solve today’s challenges in the workplace while working side-by-side with the design community.

Lois McPartlin
Vice President of Public Relations
Lois has been an integral part of Henricksen since 1979, working in various capacities within the company. Mrs. McPartlin’s duties include Human Resources and Public Relations as well as serving as the company’s compliance officer for other related issues. She also worked as Director of Accounts Receivable for 10 years. Her mother, Shirley Henricksen, founded Henricksen in 1961. Lawrence Henricksen joined forces in 1962 and for 18 years they teamed up to create a successful and respected dealership until their retirement in 1979.

Stephen E. McPartlin
Chairman
Steve was the President of Henricksen for 32 years. After graduating from Marquette University with a Marketing and Business degree, he worked for Inland Steel, Baxter Laboratories, Marble Imperial Office Furniture, and Forlow Tours. His emphasis and expertise has always been in sales and management. In 1979, he purchased the company from Shirley and Larry Henricksen. The company grew from 9 employees and $1 million in sales to the largest privately held dealership in the Midwest. Under the direction of Mr. McPartlin, Henricksen has exceeded $1.4 billion in sales over the last 32 years and now generates about $130 million in yearly sales. These results can be attributed to is progressive ideas, creating strong relationships within the industry and most importantly Henricksen’s outstanding team of the most dedicated professionals in the industry. Br. Leo Ryan, his professor and close friend from his Marquette days, gave invaluable direction and wisdom as a board member. Steve retired as President in June, 2011. The company will be carried into the future and the next level by the company’s current executive team.
